Gayle conducting consultation via zoom

Gayle Merchant

BSc (Hons) PGCE, Dip CNM, mBANT, mCNHC

Once you have booked your appointment online you will receive a welcome email which includes a health questionnaire and a food diary.

Our personalised approach

We will work together to create a plan based around the health goals that are most important to you. This will include dietary changes – food to include more of and food to possibly remove, so you are clear on what to eat. It will also include suggestions around lifestyle, tweaks to how you sleep, move and breathe and supplements to help support you whilst we restore more balance. Your plan is always written uniquely for you.

Restoring Health Naturally

Before our initial consultation, I will review your health questionnaire and food diary. This enables me to identify your immediate health concerns and to start forming a comprehensive picture of your medical history, medications, and current symptoms that are most important to you. Our initial consultation will last for 90 minutes where I will ask you lots more questions about your health story and what your current concerns are.
Within 3 working days you will receive a bespoke plan that will include;

  • Dietary recommendations
  • Lifestyle Medicine recommendations
  • Supplementation recommendations (if required)
  • Possible testing either with your GP or privately
    (discussed in the consultation)
  • Recipes and support materials (if required)

My commitment to

your wellness journey

Your health is important and is central to you living a fulfilled and joyous life. I am passionate about giving you powerful tools that you will need to achieve the optimal health you deserve. Naturopathic Nutrition, hand-in-hand with Functional Testing, can help us determine the root cause of your symptoms, so that you can understand for yourself what lies at the heart of where you are today and start to create the conditions in order to thrive.

FAQs

Functional nutrition does not treat a disease. It identifies the underlying reasons for dysfunction in the body and aims to restore health through therapeutic foods and natural supplementation.

I often work alongside GP’s especially if there is a chronic health condition.  If necessary, I will write to your GP to share test results.

I work in conjunction with your GP who will decide if and when you can reduce or remove the medication that you are currently taking. Sometimes this is possible, other times it is not.

I completed a three-year diploma with the College of Naturopathic Medicine. I have been studying with the Institute for Functional Medicine for three years.  I attend many CDP events and have completed several specialist courses including SIBO, menopausal health and detoxification.

Real and lasting change does take time. Although nutritional therapy is not a quick fix, it can bring about substantial changes rapidly with alleviation of lifelong symptoms within a few weeks.  Using functional testing, we can understand more quickly what may be at the root of disease so I can accurately target your wellness plan so we can get started immediately.

Functional testing is a 21st century cutting-edge tool to help us understand what is at the root of your symptoms.  It may be a blood, stool, urine or saliva test that you can usually do in your own home.  It tells me about the biochemical imbalances, nutrient deficiencies or pathogens in your body that may be contributing to sub-optimal health or chronic conditions. Through my training with the Institute for Functional Medicine and further training with laboratories, I am able to interpret these tests and explain them clearly to you.

Initial consultations are £200 and follow-up appointments are £100.  Functional Testing and nutritional supplements are in addition to this and will vary depending on your individual requirements.  I will always work with you to prioritise testing and supplements to fit with your budget.  Functional testing costs do vary but they are usually done after the initial consultation and re-testing can be 6-12 months later, or sometimes are not needed at all.

All packages include

Additional professional time outside of the consultation, where I do further research and interpret test results to support your health plan.
Tests and supplements are an additional cost.
